Abstract
We studied the influence of extender pigments with blends of acrylic resins in a fluoroethylene vinyl ether (FEVE) topcoat system. The evaluation included direct-to-metal and primed application over aluminum and steel substrates. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) was used to evaluate the topcoats contribution to corrosion protection after accelerated exposure testing that included accelerated weathering with salt fog exposure. The blended system performance was compared against controls of FEVE, polyurethane, and polysiloxanes.
